Groupe IUFRO 2.09.02 "Somatic embryogenesis and other vegetative propagation technologies"
IUFRO Unit (International Union of Forest Research Organizations) dedicated to somatic embryogenesis and other vegetative propagation technologies (section 2.09.02). This group was founded in 2008 by Yill-Sung Park (Canadian Forest Service, Canada) and is coordinated since 01/01/2015 by FCBA, the Instituto Madrileño de Investigación y Desarrollo Rural, Agrario y Alimentario (IMIDRA, Spain) and the National Institute of Forest Science (NIFoS, Korea). This group is meeting every two years (see the conference website).
The next conference will be organized on september 19-23, 2016, at La Plata/Buenos Aires (Argentina).
The main objective of this Unit on "Somatic Embryogenesis of Forest Trees" is to foster the development and application of somatic embryogenesis (SE) technology in both coniferous and hardwood tree species. Research areas of this unit include: the development and refinement of the SE system for commercially and ecologically important tree species; the application of SE in tree breeding and vegetative deployment in multi-varietal forestry balancing genetic gain and diversity; the use of SE in genetic resource conservation, biotechnology, genomics, molecular biology, and insect and disease resistance; and the study of related disciplines such as cryopreservation and using molecular makers for examining genetic stability and integrity of SE produced plantsVoir le site du groupe IUFRO 2.09.02
